What happens to your business if ChatGPT replaces Google? | ep100 Ethan Bloomfield, one of the first employees at ZipRecruiter, and founder of consultancy firm, VitalFew, is our guest. Yes, this is our 100th episode. Pardon our cohosts, Peter M. Zollman of AIM Group (Marketplaces / Classifieds) and Steven Rothberg of College Recruiter job search site, while they pat themselves on their backs. If there's one thing that has remained unchanged about our industry, it is that it continually changes. How we attract candidates to the jobs advertised on our sites is undergoing massive change. Instead of Google being the starting point for most job searches and many of those going to our sites, candidates are increasingly starting their searches on ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini by Google, Grok, Anthropic AI, and others. If this only recently dawned on you, you're in good company. It was also new to the founder of Appcast, Inc, Christian Forman, until a couple of months ago. SEO consultants like Ken Shafer can help, but Ethan provides an excellent roadmap for us.

Trends shaping how employers buy and implement HR tech? | ep99 Tami Nutt, the vice president of research and insights for Aspect43 is our guest on today's episode of the Inside Job Boards and Recruitment Marketplaces Podcast. Aspect43 is an advisory firm whose clients are the HR solution providers, including job boards / recruitment marketplaces, and whose audience are the buyers of those products. Aspect43 was founded by Sarah White, who recently sold the advisory firm to Joey Price's Jumpstart HR | HR Consulting & Tech Strategy to Elevate People, Culture, and Performance, a strategic partner in HR consultancy and technology analysis. Sarah is now Senior Vice President, Head of Innovation & Transformation at SAP SuccessFactors. In Tami's conversation with cohosts Peter M. Zollman of the AIM Group (Marketplaces / Classifieds) and Steven Rothberg of College Recruiter job search site, she says that HR budgets haven't changed much over the past couple of years but buyers are much more careful about where they spend their money, including placing great value on the quality instead of quantity of applications.

Earlier today, Steven Rothberg, cohost of the Inside Job Boards and Recruitment Marketplaces Podcast and founder of College Recruiter job search site, hosted the 9th, monthly, Job Board Leaders Roundtable meeting, sponsored by Job Boards Connect. Listen in as leaders of job boards and closely related businesses discuss sales strategies they've tried or might try to better attract one or more of their customer groups. Want an invite to the next one, which is May 8th? Email Steven@CollegeRecruiter.com.
New sales strategies for job boards and other recruitment marketplaces This month's gathering of dozens of leaders of job boards globally -- our 9th since August 2024 -- discussed how job boards and other recruitment marketplaces sell to our two customer groups: employers and candidates. Employers tend to pay our bills, but many (most?) job boards also think of candidates as customers. We do so not because they buy a lot (and usually nothing) but because we want to treat them well. When you're trying to increase sales to employers, traffic from candidates, or some other metric, do you try to do more of what you've already been doing? Completely overhaul your product, pricing, or other aspects of your business? Something else? A big thank you to Job Boards Connect for sponsoring!

Are job boards doing enough to promote hyper-local job listings? | ep98 Our guest on today's episode of the Inside Job Boards and Recruitment Marketplaces Podcast is Mark Emery, founder and CEO of Juvo Jobs a/k/a Juvo360. Juvo Jobs is a great example of a job board / recruitment marketplace that helps millions of candidates find jobs, does so in an innovative manner, yet isn't in the headlines nearly as much as the biggest players. In today's episode, our cohosts, Peter M. Zollman of AIM Group (Marketplaces / Classifieds) and Steven Rothberg of College Recruiter job search site explore why hyper-local job listings benefit candidates and employers and how Mark's team successfully markets those listings through reseller arrangements with payroll, background check, and other such organizations.

Tackling fake applicants using pricing | ep97 Our guest on today's episode of the Inside Job Boards and Recruitment Marketplaces Podcast is Mark Chaffey, the cofounder and CEO of UK-based hackajob. Hackajob matches candidates with tech jobs in the UK, USA, and India. Candidates do not apply to jobs but, instead, the employer applies to the candidates. The employer describes the role, the AI lists matches, the employer requests interviews, and the candidates choose whether to accept them. When they do, the employer pays. In today's episode, our cohosts, Peter M. Zollman of AIM Group (Marketplaces / Classifieds) and Steven Rothberg of College Recruiter job search site discuss with Mark why, as Cory Kapner of Recruitics says, some friction in the hiring process is a good thing and charging candidates a nominal fee to apply to a job, as Alexander Chukovski of crypto-careers.com suggested on LinkedIn, is a good idea but not without its own problems.

How are diversity job boards adapting to changing political climates | ep96 Our guest on today's episode of the Inside Job Boards and Recruitment Marketplaces Podcast is Shauna Cole, the president and founder of a leading, Canadian, diversity job board, hirediverse.ca. Before we even started to speak with Shauna, our cohosts, Peter M. Zollman of AIM Group (Marketplaces / Classifieds) and Steven Rothberg of College Recruiter job search site, mentioned that last week's guest was another founder, Jeff Taylor (founder of Monster); Steven will discuss USA diversity and other hiring issues on Hung Lee's Recruiting Brainfood on March 21st; and Peter will at RecBuzz in Vienna on April 8th and 9th. Diversity means very different things in different markets. In the U.S., it has been far more about legal compliance than in Canada and some other markets. Shauna talks about that, including providing insights into the make-up of her employer customers and how different customers evaluate her site differently.

The lawsuit that we've discussed a couple of times between Jobindex A/S and Google, including about a year ago at https://lnkd.in/gjDxSg4i, has been settled!
Building Niche Job Boards (Web3 & AI) | HR Tech Consultant | Expertise in Job Sites SEO, Google Jobs, NLP & AI Solutions, Job Scraping | HR Tech Blogger
Finally, we have a solid ground to believe that Google Jobs is safe in Europe - Jobindex and Google settled! I wrote about this a couple of times, and it was pretty dangerous for our industry and one of the reasons why I really thought that Google will decide to close the last bits of their recruiting escapades after they killed Hire By Google, almost killed the job matching product and killed Google Job Ads. Jobindex lost the case back in August 2024. In September 2024, Danske Medier and Jobindex chose to appeal the Maritime and Commercial Court judgment of 27 August 2024, which acquitted Google of infringing on Jobindex's rights in connection with the "Google for Jobs" service. "After a constructive dialogue, the parties have just reached a settlement, which is why Danske Medier and Jobindex have withdrawn the appeal. The content of the settlement is confidential." Congrats to Kaare. Not many people get to *sue* Google, **lose**, and then still get a settlement. What remains open is whether Jobindex will start using Google Jobs :) Thanks to Lars Peter Svane for sending the news article.

Our cohost, Steven Rothberg of College Recruiter job search site, was quoted in an article by Nick Bevens of AIM Group (Marketplaces / Classifieds), which was founded by our other cohost, Peter M. Zollman. “To remain valued sourcing tools for customers, many marketplaces are already adapting their search algorithms, employer tools, and candidate profiles to emphasize skills-based hiring,” Steven Rothberg, founder and chief visionary officer at College Recruiter in the U.S., told the AIM Group. “Some do this through candidate self-identification, such as asking candidates if they have skills X, Y, or Z when they’re registering or updating their profiles. Other sites take what is a more sophisticated yet far more difficult and expensive approach: scientifically validated assessments.” Also quoted were friends of the Podcast, Rob Brouwer of Jobrapido and Jeff Maggioncalda of Coursera. https://lnkd.in/gVQGq88J
